OUR HISTORY

Our Rich History from 1985 to Present.

A Rose Brothers Enterprise:  Angliana Antiques Warehouse (1985 to 2007)

The Rose family started Lexington’s Antique and Collectible Show and Sale in the spring of 1985. Starting as a small show with only thirty dealers, the sale took place in an old tobacco warehouse at 528 Angliana Avenue. Originally built in the 1930’s, the tobacco warehouse was used throughout the years bringing tobacco growers and cigarette producers together.  The “tobacco market” as it was called, typically ran from November thru February.  The antique show operated after the “tobacco market” closed for the season.  Held the second weekend April thru October, the small show grew to over 200 dealers from all over the country.

The Tradition for nearly 40 Years:  Athens Schoolhouse Antiques Show (2007 – 2025)

As Kentucky’s tobacco industry changed the four-acre warehouse was torn down but the tradition continues in a new location.   Starting in 2007, the show relocated in the historic Athens-Boonesboro Schoolhouse, the monthly show was a truly exciting adventure with unexpected finds from Colonial period antiques to Depression era vintage.  Mid-century modern, fine art, pottery, architectural finds, quilts, textiles, oriental rugs, fashion and much more.

Set in a beautiful historic setting, easy parking and an expansive, organized space. It was open the second full weekend of every month year- round with over 70 carefully screened dealers, the Tradition ended at the Athens Schoolhouse in May 2025.

THE TRADITION COMES TO AN END IN MAY 2025

“Update to all our Friends and Customers of the Athens Schoolhouse Antiques Show. After 18 years in the Athens community we will be closing the show after our May 2025 event.  The owners of the building have decided to embark on a whole building renovation. The Mathis/Cox family have been wonderful to work with, and we understand the need.

Many Thanks,
The Kemper and Rose Family
